Food was awesome, not counting the tasteless dessert's. We tried every single one. I really wanted the German chocolate cake they had. I got it and it had no taste. I asked my niece that was with me to taste it. I did not tell her what I thought about it. She tasted it and said that it had no flavor. She was tasting a brownie. No flavor. Not even the cookies. Just no taste at all. Only the lemon meringue pie had flavor. It was really good! They were serving turkey and prime rib as entree's. Not in the mood for turkey and not crazy about prime rib BUT, I got it. Took it over to the grill chef. I told him I wasn't crazy about it. He offered to fix it up for me. He put that big piece of prime rib in the grill and seasoned it! It was so good!! Delicious! Our server was so kind. Kept our drinks filled. Extra napkins.
(June 6, 2023) My favorite part was the sushi 😍 excellent quality sushi. The cooked food was all right. Prime rib looked overcooked (brown) so I didn't try any. I tried a wing, sesame chicken, pizza, cod in lobster sauce, grape leaves, Mediterranean lentil salad, and smoked salmon/cheeses. Wing and sesame chicken were incredibly salty. Grape leaves and Mediterranean lentil salad undercooked (crunchy). Pizza was the kind you find at a Chinese buffet. However, the cod in lobster sauce was phenomenal. The cheese varieties were all delicious and when paired with the hot rolls -- like a slice of heaven!
If I were to go back, I would just get sushi and cheese from the cheese platter.
Re: desserts - the chocolate mousse cup was very good. Carrot cake was also good. Desserts were precut earlier so edges were dry. Chocolate ice cream tasted a bit like cleaner/medicine. Vanilla ice cream did not have the cleaner taste but it was thin.
Overall, I give it 4/5 for the sushi and cheese - very high quality. But I would not come here specifically for the cooked foods.
Assembly line buffet is fantastic!
It is also the only buffet in Detroit. All other casino buffets are closed and I couldn't find any buffets at all in Detroit that looked worth going to.
Motor City casino couldn't be easier to get to. It's right at the top of the ramp off the Lodge freeway exit 2C. The road practically sends you right into the free covered parking with surveillance. There's always a space near the door even on Friday or Saturday nights. The price is $45 for all you can eat. If you sign up for the motor City club you get 10% off Amazing!
When you think of buffets you think of loud clattering dishes and cafeteria lighting. Not here. The restaurant is carpeted and they have sound insulating tiles in the ceiling that makes the atmosphere very pleasant, quiet and a nice place to be.
The food is top-notch prepared by master chefs better than Vegas and certainly much better than I could ever make. Last time I went they had stuffed soul and guess what they stuffed it with... shrimp! Unbelievable! Another time I went they had cod with lobster cream sauce over the top. Every bite of the fish tasted like a big juicy piece of lobster I had five or six pieces it was so good. The main course is changed every day so even if you go all the time or are staying at the hotel you don't get sick of the food. They refill the pans, trays and pizza boards each time a piece is taken out so there's never a empty pan.
Don't even get me started on the desserts they have chocolate cake, apple pie, cherry pie, chocolate cream pie, chocolate pie multiple kinds of cheesecakes, custard filled donuts, a soft serve ice cream machine that you can dispense yourself as much as you want, vanilla, chocolate or twist. Home made freas chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, peanut butter and sugar cookies. Mini chocolate eclairs.
The buffet line is also kept spotlessly clean if you drip a little bit on the edge of the pan it is cleaned up immediately. They also have a carving station that serves fresh carved turkey or fresh carved beef brisket, delicious.
No wait. Due to their efficient kiosks at the entrance. Just swipe your club card and then your credit card or cash, hand your receipt to the hostess and you're seated and eating in minutes. They also assign a excellent waiter to your table that pays great attention to detail as far as getting you anything you want to drink and as much as you want to drink
(non alcoholic) including coffee.
Every time I have gone I have had fantastic food, excellent table service and no complaints at all.
After dinner, cruise the casino and check out the cool state of the art games, automated and regular roulette, craps horse racing or table games. They also have a self-serve station for free non-alcohol drinks and coffee in the gaming area.
45 bucks for all you can eat, fantastic dj near the gaming not to mention the wonderful shows they have at the Soundboard. Check their schedule for bands that are coming. They usually get great acts. Morris Day and the Time were excellent.
What more can you ask for? Go have some fun. Oh almost forgot when you sign up for the club they'll give you $30 to $40 in reward play so you can play $40 worth on any of the games absolutely free! They have a great FanDuel area there also.
Good food and pleasant atmosphere. The price for the buffet has increased to $45 per person, but the quality & selections of available dishes is worth the cost, in my opinion. Remodeling is underway to include some additional food options.
Pre-pandemic this place was a top of the line tasty buffet. These days, it seems a bit sad by comparison. The quality of the food has dropped significantly and it feels more like an upgraded Golden Corral. If you're paying with comps, it's not a bad choice, but it is in no way worth paying cash for anymore.
This place is a complete disappointment and clearly has gone down. $55 per person on Christmas Day, and the experience is subpar, by 6pm, they had already run out of some meats, pepperoni pizza, oysters, cheesecake, and a few other foods, not to talk about the foods that disappeared long time ago, like crab legs, etc. The only available slices of pizza were not good, just dry. Service and a slow, ambiance is depressing, last place to consider when searching for a nice Holliday meal experience.
The food is always fresh and tasty! Staff always so accommodating and friendly. Great selection of food… Sushi is really well made !!! As you can see this looks like a Thanksgiving plate made at home.…yummy!! Well worth the price. ($35 per person) Only thing wish the dessert section had more options, not my favorites…. Overall great Buffett!!
All around great time, $28 as of this review per person but tons of food options, italian mexican asian soul food desserts etc. Very friendly staff. They are doing staggered entry so you might have to wait your turn to get in but the line is not that bad.
A+ recommended if you are in town for the casino or a game or just looking for a nice place for guys night out
